Giuseppe Stampone, apart from his extraordinary skill as a draughtsman, is among the best known Italian artists for his continuous research and conception of projects developed for and with the community.
“Global Education” is his participatory process designed with the aim “to re-create a new literacy not given and created by a few for the many (the Western dictatorship of Gutenberg’s typeface) but re-created through the active participation of people; in other words, a shared alphabet.
Master Giuseppe Stampone responded to our invitation with his Global Education method, developing a participation path within the company to create an original alphabet, the alphabet of values of Marca Corona. A for Authenticity, E for Experience, I for Innovation, S for Sassuolo, T for Tradition are some of the 21 words the Master has depicted in an unprecedented artist’s spelling book.
All works are created with the Bic pen, the artist’s iconic signature and to which Bic dedicated the exclusive production of the colour Blu Giuseppe Stampone.
The artist expresses himself with the layering technique, not only of image and spatial references, but above all of time, through the expert use of this pen. Stampone’s political action reflects in the expansion and celebration of time, through doing, reflection, dedication and waiting.
Born in 1974, Giuseppe Stampone is a French-born artist who moved to Italy at the age of 7. He lives and works between Italy, Belgium and the USA. His practice consists of drawings made with a Bic pen strictly in Stamp-One blue. It is a window on physical and digital reality, which involves the viewer in a metaphorical approach to the image: Stampone is never didactic, even if the immediacy of his language seems to suggest it.
