Marca Corona per l’Arte and Art City Bologna 2025. All the events scheduled, embracing architecture, culture and contemporary art

Coming up to its 13th edition, Art City Bologna 2025 prepares to amaze visitors and art-lovers with a packed schedule of artistic events across the city centre, with a special focus on the famous Art City White Night 2025, on the Saturday evening.

As usual, this is in synergy with Arte Fiera 2025, its twin ever since its launch.

Marca Corona per l’Arte will once again be a star of the weekend of initiatives linked to the festival and on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 February it looks forward to welcoming you to an array of free activities open to the public, ranging across architecture, culture and contemporary art.

These include:

  • “MCm — Minimo Comune multiplo” exhibition by Andrea Mastrovito
  • Showing of film “Nysferatu – Symphony of a Century”
  • Day-and-night opening of Teatro San Leonardo

See below for the complete programme.

The Art City Bologna 2025 weekend with Marca Corona per l’Arte and Andrea Mastrovito at Teatro San Leonardo

On Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 February, Marca Corona per l’Arte is ready to welcome you to Teatro San Leonardo, Via San Vitale 63, Bologna, to amaze you with the visual and cinematographic art of Andrea Mastrovito.

“MCm — Minimo Comune multiplo”: the exhibition by Andrea Mastrovito at Art City 2025 and Art City White Night 2025

An international artist with a career ranging from the Queens Museum in New York to the MAXXI in Rome and many other global exhibition venues, Andrea Mastrovito comes to Bologna with an exclusive exhibition specially created for Marca Corona per l’Arte @ Art City Bologna 2025, entitled “MCm — Minimo Comune multiplo”, curated by Ilaria Bernardi.

Featuring the first showing of the artist’s new works – recently created in Sassuolo (Modena, Italy), in the participatory community art project organised by Marca Corona per l’Arte – the exhibition also includes a selection of works dating from 2009 to 2024, which exemplify one of his favourite methods: multiplication, followed by the juxtaposition of the multiplied elements.

Hence the name of the exhibition “MCm — Minimo Comune multiplo”, which in itself announces an unusual perspective on contemporary art, where traditional drawing techniques are reinvented and transformed through constant experimentation and masterly use of salvaged materials, collage and illustrated compositions.

Entry and visits to the exhibition are completely free of charge, with the following opening hours:

Saturday 8/2
from 10:00 to 24:00

Sunday 9/2
from 10:00 to 20:00

“Nysferatu – Symphony of a Century”: the film by Andrea Mastrovito screened free of charge during Art City Bologna 2025 and Arte Fiera 2025

Andrea Mastrovito’s multi-faceted talent and originality extends beyond works on paper or canvas to embrace film and the cinema screen.

In fact, during the weekend of Saturday 8 February (Art City White Night 2025) and Sunday 9 February visitors will be able to combine the artist’s exhibition with a screening of his film “Nysferatu – Symphony of a Century”.

Presented at the Rome Film Festival, the film is set in New York and features an innovative combination of artistic animation with visual and musical storytelling, reinterpreting the splendour of silent film of the 1920s.

The screening of this film becomes even more enthralling in the iconic setting of Teatro San Leonardo, and not only for experimental cinema or contemporary art enthusiasts.

Entry and screenings of the film are completely free of charge, with the following schedule:

Saturday 8/2
screenings at 11:30 – 14:00 – 15:30 – 17:00 – 18:30 – 20:00 – 21:30

Sunday 9/2
screenings at 11:30 – 14:00 – 15:30 – 17:00 – 18:30 – 20:00

The build-up to Art City Bologna 2025 and Arte Fiera 2025 begins with the congress “R(i)ESISTERE - Quando l’architettura converte la cultura” and the Premio Marca Corona per l’Arte

On Friday 7 February, Marca Corona per l’Arte marks the start of the 2025 edition of Art City Bologna 2025 and Arte Fiera  with an event for industry professionals (architects, designers and artists): the congress “R(i)ESISTERE – Quando l’architettura converte la cultura” [“RESISTING-RE-EXISTING – When Architecture Converts Culture”].

The event will take the form of a dialogue on the processes of transformation affecting cities, architecture, culture and art, viewed as fundamental for reshaping our approach to society and the environment.

The various talks scheduled during the morning will be given by architects, artists and social innovators involved in the renewal of culture and art through changes to urban design and landscape, including Maurizio Cilli, Emanuel Ingrao, Giada Crispiels, Laura Ragazzola and many others.

In the evening, the event continues with the Premio Marca Corona per l’Artean art award for talented young artists, the 2025 winner of which will be announced.

It will be a major opportunity and an international stage for showcasing the future of art through the eyes of the next generation of artists, against a contemporary backdrop which needs to rediscover beauty and trust in a positive tomorrow as never before.
